Walk in the footsteps of our human ancestors and experience the unsurpassed beauty of the Hoerikwaggo Trail (Hoerikwaggo meaning ‘Mountains of the sea’ in the original Khoekhoe language). As you trek through this diverse wilderness you will explore magnificent peaks, afro-montane forests, fynbos biomes and glorious beaches of the Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) – being part of a World Heritage Site and an international tourism icon.
Linking the Cape of Good Hope to Cape Town, the hiking trail was constructed by SANparks as part of a job creation project employing from the townships of the Cape Peninsula. The team were trained in the art of path building and stone masonry in order to make Cape Town’s conservation and tourism industry economically relevant to our local communities.
How long is the trail? 5 days, 4 nights. How far? 75 km (approx 46 miles). Limited time? Don’t worry; simply select a section that you can manage. Hikes range from 9.5km to 18km, with overnight stops available at four tented camps situated at strategic point in pristine locations. All camps are accessible by vehicle. For the first time in 150 years Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve are proud to announce that there will be free roaming Elephants in the Ceres Karoo, after many trials and hard work, two bull elephants have been released into their 10 000 hectare private game reserve. Both animals were born and brought up in captivity, and for the first time in their lives, they will experience life to its fullest, freedom and a home in which they can live care free.

This is one of 3 major projects which Inverdoorn has been the pioneers of, after very successful work in launching the WCCC in 2001 and making this Cheetah Conservation effort world renowned, Inverdoorn also launched Rhinoprotect late in 2011 to aid the fight against Rhino poaching with a revolutionary horn treatment.
