Our standard itinerary looks like this:
Day 1
Travel through wine growing areas through the Huguenot Tunnel into the Succulent Karoo and stay one night at the 5 star Sanbona Private Game Reserve. This will include 2 safaris and accommodation in a luxury lodge.
Day 2
After the early morning game drive you have breakfast, then we collect you again at 11 am. We then drive on through the very scenic Route 62 to the little Karoo town of Oudtshoorn, famous for its Ostrich industry. There we have lunch before visiting one of the towns Ostrich farms, where we get a very interesting tour how the farm operates. We overnight at a quaint but lovely guest farm on the outskirts of the town.
Day 3
After breakfast we go and visit the famous Cango Caves, where you can have either the standard or the adventure tour of these amazing limestone caves. Then we have the treat of going over one of the most magnificent mountain passes in Africa, the Swartberg Pass. We arrive in the afternoon in the Victorian village of Prince Albert where we overnight in a local guesthouse.
Day 4
We depart Prince Albert after breakfast and take a drive through the majestic Meiringspoort canyon pass, and onwards into the Eastern Cape and into the Baviaanskloof Wilderness area, where we spend the night in a private lodge sitting on top of a ridge. The beauty of the Baviaanskloof is simply breathtaking.
Day 5
We take a very slow drive through the Baviaans Kloof (a 4 x 4 trail ), marvelling at the scenery as we go along. Our aim is to reach Addo Elephant National Park by the late afternoon. As the names suggests, this park is a real sanctuary to over 550 elephants, but within it’s 160,000 hectares is the whole of the Big 5 and much more. We are staying here for 2 nights.
Day 6
We now enjoy a full day at one of South Africa’s premier National parks. At this park we are free to travel around in our own vehicle so during the day we can take any route that suits us, and stay as long as we want at any sighting. Accommodation at the reserve is in chalets, and there is a very good restaurant at the main camp.
Day 7
After a morning game drive and breakfast, we can drop you off at Port Elizabeth airport for your onward journey, OR continue back to Cape Town:
During the drive to our next stop you have the option to experience a Canopy tour where you Glide through the trees 40m above the ground or we can visit a bird and monkey sanctuary. We continue to the Garden Route town of Knysna where we are going to Overnight in the Knysna Elephant Park, a sanctuary for orphaned or abandoned elephants. There go out for a walk with the elephants.
Day 8
In the morning we go down to the Knysna estuary and go out on the Featherbed Marine Reserve tour on a ferry which takes us over the lake to beautiful view sites above the Heads. After the Featherbed tour we travel along the garden route to the village of Wilderness where we spend the night in a log cabin in the Wilderness National Park. You can enjoy a walk along the Wilderness beach that stretches for miles with views along the Indian ocean coastline.
Day 9
After breakfast we then travel along the garden route towards Cape Town passing the town of Mossel Bay and then on to back roads – over a hand drawn pont, via Cape Agulhas, the southern tip of Africa, and onto the coastal town of Hermanus, where we overnight.
Day 10
After breakfast, you can have the option of either going on a whale watching cruise or for the more adventurous go Great White Shark cage diving. After that we go and enjoy a final lunch at a top wine estate close to Hermanus before heading back to Cape Town and your drop-off.
