“A 2 day safari adventure close to Cape Town”

This safari tour takes place on a private game reserve 230 kms from Cape Town.  It boasts the largest number and variety of animals out of any of the reserves close to Cape Town.

Some of these animals include; lions, buffalo, rhino, giraffe, and cheetahs. The park has most of South Africa's flagship big game animals, along with with many of the other wildlife species.

YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS HERE

Your dedicated field guide will pick you up from your accommodation within Cape Town and take you safely and informatively to the reserve.  Travel is in one of our comfortable air conditioned vehicles, and the journey includes spectacular views and mountain passes.

On arrival you are welcomed with a refreshing drink before having a buffet lunch under the large gum trees at the lodge.  After lunch you can lounge around the beautiful swimming pool area or relax in your room. From 4-5pm you will be taken on the lodges’ safari vehicle for a 2-3 hour game drive by one of the reserves experienced game rangers. They will bring you close and personal to Lion, Rhino, Buffalo, Zebra, Cheetah,Giraffe, Eland, Kudu and many more big game animals. Also on the reserve we have regular sightings of some magnificent raptors including the African Fish Eagle and Southern Pale Chanting Goshawk.

After the game drive there is a five course evening dinner that combines South African and French cuisine. Later you can lounge at the fire pit where a drinks bar will be open. You can then witness why this area is one of the top star gazing locations in the world. Accommodation for the evening is in a choice of guesthouse, private chalet, luxury chalet or Ambassador suite,  that are all decorated in very tasteful african themes.

In the morning it is up early for a game drive that starts at 6 am. This early morning game drive offers you the  opportunity to view the animals before the heat of the day slows them down. There is also the possibility of seeing some of the nocturnal animals such as the strange looking Aardvark and Bat Eared Foxes.

After breakfast you can walk around the camp, go for a swim or visit the curio shop. We depart for Cape Town after checking out, taking a leisurely drive back through a number of spectacular mountain passes with a few stops on the way to admire some wonderful scenery, and will definitely have time to do a bit of wine tasting at one of the Cape's top wine estates. Arrival back in Cape Town at approx 5pm.

SAFETY FIRST
All our safari drives at the various lodges are carried out on open viewing vehicles which are open to the elements, for this reason it is recommended that you take along appropriate weather protection (see below). On the safari drives standing up is not allowed unless the vehicle is stopped and the guide gives permission to do so.
WHAT TO BRING?
At all times of the year bring along sunblock, sunglasses (these also help protect the eyes from the wind), a hat, and walking shoes. In summer take some light khaki or light coloured clothing, and swimwear for the lodge pools. In winter you will need warm clothes, a jacket, and a beanie for the cold mornings and evenings.
WEATHER GUIDE
Cape Town itself is classified as a temperate climate very similar to the mediterranean, with hot dry summers, and cold wet winters. The maximum temperature averages about 26°C in summer with some days reaching over 30°C. In winter the average minimum is 7°C, but the midday average is 17°C.
In that world, you'll be able to rise in the morning with the spirit you had known in your childhood: that spirit of eagerness, adventure and certainty which comes from dealing with a rational universe.
